“E komo mai” is the Hawaiian phrase for welcome. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all students who are new to CHS and my room(#405). English 11A is called “The American Identity”. Throughout the semester we will analyze the traits that we share as Americans. We will examine: novels, short stories, essays, historical documents, and many non-fiction articles to discover how our “American” traits emerged and have changed over time. My goal is to make the class as educational and meaningful as possible. As we study literary movements throughout our country’s history, my hope is that you will see connections between what you are learning in my class and what you are studying in your U.S. History class as the two courses coincide with one another. Let the learning begin! Make the most of this opportunity. I have faith in your success.
