Notes

12/18/15

English 11B is called “The American Dream: Illusion or Reality?” Throughout the course, you will read both fiction and non-fiction pieces that debate this question.  Unlike last semester, the focus for this semester is on fiction.  As a class, we will read four “core literature” selections:  Of Mice and MenA Raisin in the SunThe Glass Menagerie, and Death of a Salesman.  In addition to discussing the American Dream, another major motif is that of how our American society treats those who are physically and mentally disabled.  Finally, second semester will focus on research skills in late February when you conduct your “Decades” Historical Research Report that coincides with topics that you will be learning about in U.S. History this semester.  Let the fun and the learning continue!
